Consultation with Managers and Supervisors
Counseling employees with job performance concerns - From time to time, managers must confront work performance issues in their employees. The manager can help employees improve performance by monitoring, coaching and adjusting workloads, or by reassigning specific tasks. A comprehensive employee improvement plan would include referring the employee to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). An EAP counselor assesses the impact of personal issues and other factors on job performance. A plan is developed to address these issues.
Adapting to the New Role of Manager or Supervisor - Promotion to a position involving the supervision of others represents a major shift in responsibility and perspective. New supervisors need organizational support and training to learn new administrative skills, as well as relationship and communication skills. The EAP helps new supervisors adapt to their new role and expand their skills.
Teambuilding - Working together as a team requires cooperation and flexibility. The Team must take on shared responsibility for delivering a product or service. It must develop methods to solve problems, confront differences of opinion, motivate and reward members. Team building is an ongoing process as workplace priorities change and new technology is introduced in an ever-evolving work environment.
