The field of Urogynecology (a subspecialty with Obstetrics & Gynecology) is dedicated to the treatment of women with pelvic floor disorders such as urinary or fecal incontinence and prolapse of the vagina, bladder, and/or uterus. These conditions are caused by a variety of factors including childbirth, aging, infection and athletic activities.
Urinary and/or fecal incontinence are issues that are seldom talked about, but something that many people are affected by. Approximately 10 - 20 percent of women under 65 years old and as many as 56% of women over the age of 65 are affected. Through the comprehensive Urogynecology services now offered at Exeter Hospital, patients can be treated by exceptional clinical professionals in a comfortable, convenient setting.
