Also known as "Diabetes Self-Management Skills," this group education program is geared toward those with newly diagnosed diabetes, those who have "unstable" diabetes and those who have recurrent problems managing their diabetes.
This certified American Diabetes Association program will provide you with an overview of diabetes and give you strategies to better cope with the stress and behavior changes often associated with diabetes. You will learn about the key components to the optimal care of your health, including meal planning, label reading, carbohydrate counting, current diabetes medications, and the role of exercise and how/when to self monitor blood sugar. Attention is also given to preventing/delaying the complications of diabetes and to managing your diabetes when you are sick. Take the time to learn these techniques and FEEL BETTER!
Each course consists of five 2-hour classes which cover the topics mentioned above and are held nearly every month at the HealthReach Diabetes, Endocrine & Nutrition Center located at 881 Lafayette Road, Suites G & H in Hampton, NH. Courses are offered in the morning and/or evening.
