Coronary heart disease is the most common cause of death in men and women. Cardiovascular disease is often genetic or inherited. However, there are ways to reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke.

Family History: Do you have a blood-related family member who has heart disease or has had a heart attack?
Age: Are you a man over age 45? Are you a woman over age 55? Have you experienced premature menopause?
Risk factors you can change or treat:
Smoking: Do you smoke cigarettes, pipes or cigars?
High Cholesterol: Is your cholesterol higher than 240? OR If you checked the first box (Cardiac or Neurological Disease) is your cholesterol higher than 200?
Hypertension: Are you on blood pressure lowering medication? OR Is your blood pressure greater than 140/90?
Diabetes: Do you have diabetes or have you been told you are pre-diabetic?
Obesity: Are you 20% over the recommended weight for your height?
Physical Inactivity: Do you rarely exercise or rarely do anything physically demanding?
